We watch so many great designers and their shoe lines but many produce a fabulous handbag line. Jimmy Choo is one of those shoe designers who has been able to make a mark with their handbag design as well.
We like this latest group it is anchored with signature looks in spring materials. We like the linen and leather tote Bree bag in natural linen with black snake print leather trim. The Riki signature ring trim in patent leather and the Sky hobo in Raffia with snake leather trim. Enjoy-Shoes www.designershoesblog.com Bill Dowling
New from Givenchy for spring 2011. Beautifully adorned black nylon/leather handbags with cut glass or rivet trim. The shapes are familiar but the new materials make them light and easy to maintain. These are a great addition to your wardrobe for spring the perfect weight for the season. We encourage you to think of these as buy now wear now so enjoy. We like the rivet trim but if you want a bag you can dress up or down we have the beautiful cut glass trim. New at www.bobellisshoes.com for spring.
Some of the richest leathers that we have received so far are from Givenchy handbags. These hand worked, tumbled, distressed, leathers are each unique and subtle to the touch. The styles are ageless and very use able. We like the messenger bag for it's unique slinky metal handle with soft tumbled leather trim. It has all the inside pockets you would expect and the flap front makes for easy access. Look for it at fine stores. Enjoy-shoes www.designershoesblog.com Bill Dowling
When it comes to soft leather and an easy style for everyday use you can't beat a basic Hobo bag. This pebble grain leather version is from Italian Designer Prada. The beauty is it's simplicity and easy open zipper top. As you run your errands of the day you only need one hand to zip and unzip the top while the bags fits comfortably on your shoulder. Prada also added great colors for spring citrus orange, coffee brown, magnolia white, and basic black. We love the Citrus orange for that perfect accent color for any of the patterns or color blocks we will see this season. Enjoy-Shoes www.designershoesblog.com Bill Dowling
This is the time of Year that we seem too see very interesting and unique materials also fun colors from handbag designers. Paige Gamble is no exception. Her latest group of clutches and totes are exquisite from the green structured python clutch to the tote of green ostrich skin. Enjoy-Shoes

People are starting to think twice about those big five figure beautiful Alligator handbags that have been in fashion for years. Lot's of reason's to say no to those heavy suitcase size bags, especially when they are of exotic skin and cost as much as your car. Weight is a major factor as well as the price. But there still are a few great buys out there. The Carlos Falchi collection is feather weight and made with some beautiful skins. The price is reasonable and the feel is wonderful. The closer we get to the extinction of the alligator bag the more I wonder what's over the horizon in the fashion world of handbags. Let's make some statements that are considered true and figure out where to go from here. Clutches are overdone and they are just not convenient to use. Hardware adds weight and unless it looks great it can cheapen a great bag. The next issue is size. I love the big diaper bag from Henry Beguelin but not everybody likes that much in the bottom of there bag. It is light weight and usable most others with a few exceptions from Gucci are heavy. The big come back is the Fendi bagette it fit's the shoulder and is not too big. The newest shape that I like is the square patent small flap bag from Lanvin with over the shoulder across the body metal strap. It Is very small though but still a great look. Lanvin also does a bigger modified hobo ring shoulder strap north south tote just awesome. The battle between big and small still rages but I think we will see a most unlikely winner this fall. So for spring if you like those alligator bags buy them now while they are still plentiful this is the year to buy and wear because as we get into fall I think you will see another old favorite Ostrich take the place of theses Reptile bags. Watch for the new skin shark and sting ray Bags. All of these weight less but give you the same richness and hand. Watch for it in shoes as well. Enjoy shoes and bags Bill Dowling
The designers are in love with metallic and small bags but I'm not unless you need to fill a void in your wardrobe. I see the fun in the colors and materials that are popping up in those everyday totes. Luxury is in those light weight leathers and beautiful patina's of this season's handbags. Gucci, Falchi, Beguelin, Baleneciaga and Valentino to name a few have done a wonderful job with size and weight. These bags function and they have fashion. Look for some great exotics from Falchi and Valentino whether it be a water snake yellow clutch at $800 or American alligator bag from Valentino at $20,000-$30,000. The Family heir loom is still a matter of estate planning whether it's buying American alligator or buying the right antique highboy. These are all choices available to the consumer this season. If You Find yourself in the Charleston SC come by and see those 30,000 Valentino bags in person this weekend from Valentino. Trunk show!! March 28th and 29th we would love to show you these beautiful bags. We are located at 332 King street Charleston SC. Remember fashion isn't always about price but like a great wine or that fabulous painting what makes them so special is the uniqueness and limited availability. Enjoy shoes Bill Dowling Bob Ellis
